Don't call it a lobby.

“Inside the entry, we’ve built a two-story, cerused oak library with mezzanine. You feel like you’ve walked into a beautiful grand residence.” – Ken Fulk, designer.

This is a space you’ll want to spend time in. An extension of your residence. A common area for uncommon people. A special place for a morning coffee, or a place to greet your guest before going up to your home. With a flow and ambience more evocative of a fine European hotel than a typical San Francisco condominium, this space needs a different word to describe it. Grand Salon, perhaps?
